Who I Am

Hi, my name is Marty and I am a passionate and energetic SEO analyst with above-average proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has virtually devastated the commercial real estate industry, I have since elected to launch a career in SEO using skills I acquired and honed over the past ten years in overseeing website design, development, and SEO for a business specializing in commercial property condition assessments. During that time, I designed/developed, updated, and overhauled the company's website using proven SEO white-hat strategies for achieving a perfect score in HubSpot's Website Grader in addition to earning high scores in other online tools (Refer to screenshot images under 'Achievements') with a proven track record like Google PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix that grade a website against key metrics like performance, mobile readiness, SEO, and security. I have also been able to achieve 1st-page organic rankings in the SERPs for the website inspectabuilding.com using ethical SEO white-hat strategies recommended by Google without having to rely on Google or other pay per click (PPC) ad campaigns. Last but not least, I am repeatedly encouraged by family, friends, and colleagues familiar with and impressed by my website skills and accomplishments in SEO. While my specialty lays in providing website audits that focus primarily on technical aspects of/affecting a search engine's ability to crawl and index a website that can have either a beneficial or adverse effect on SEO, I am also proficient in providing non-technical on/off-page SEO services including but not limited to keyword research, content writing, and link-building.

SEO Services I Provide

Technical SEO

Technical SEO requires conducting a technical site audit to determine and address technical issues known to hinder a search engine's ability to crawl and index a website that in and of itself can have an adverse effect on site performance and rankings in the SERPs (search engine result pages). Moreover, unlike issues arising from SEO focusing on keyword research, content writing, and link building subject to trial and error, technical website issues are normally deemed an easy fix for an expert in SEO well versed in HTML, CSS, and Javascript as opposed to someone dependent on a CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress (WP) with little to no experience in hard coding websites. And regardless of what others may have you believe, using a CMS plugin is virtually an exercise in futility in attempting to resolve technical issues of/affecting a website. In contrast, an abbreviated site audit has more often than not proven reliable to reveal any technical issues known to have an adverse impact on website traffic as well as performance and rankings in the SERPs (search engine result pages).

SEO Content Writing

According to Google, while keyword research and link building continue to play an important role in developing a successful SEO campaign, quality content remains king. As an added benefit, we take exceptional pride in being able to create quality content for websites providing information, products, or services for whatever profession/industry they represent. In order to accomplish this task, it's important that the party providing SEO services solicit as much feedback as possible from the client about the business, product or service they provide in addition to a business plan, discussion of short and long term goals, and expectations they may have regarding SEO, leaving no stone unturned. Needless to say, this in turn provides the information necessary to provide quality content and other SEO services designed to exceed a client's expectations for SEO yet to be provided.

Keyword Research

When it comes to keyword research, what many individuals and businesses alike often overlook and fail to realize when their website appears to be getting little to no traffic or a lot of traffic but little to no sales is often due to chasing keywords that don't match those commonly used in searching for the product or service they provide, represent a competitive market or niche difficult to rank for, attract visitors who are still shopping and indecisive or not yet ready to commit. However, to acquire relevant website traffic, you need to discover and incorporate keywords commonly used by those looking to satisfy a need that your product or service can provide. In reality, this is often easier said than done for the average layperson, business owner or so called SEO expert or specialist who more often than not know little to nothing about the business, product, or service you're trying to rank for much less the target audience for whom they're intended. Needless to say, the art of discovering the right keywords to attract relevant website traffic remains a crucial part of SEO to help increase sales.

Link Building

Link building is the process of getting reputable and preferably well-ranked websites to provide a link back to yours. According to Google, backlinks remain an indispensable part of increasing performance and rankings in the SERPs (search engine result pages). In reality, this makes perfect sense when you stop to realize that earning high-quality backlinks sends a message to Google that you have a well respected, authoritative, and trustworthy site. Also, given that all backlinks are not created equal, the more the better mentality holds no water. And while it may have once been considered acceptable practice if not easy to get away with purchasing links from link farms, this practice is no longer recommended and virtually guaranteed to get a website banned from the SERPs. Last but not least, it's important to find and eliminate undesirable sites that may have provided a link back to yours in addition to removing or repairing broken backlinks present as they can also impact a website's performance and rankings in the SERPs. This noted an abbreviated site audit can also help reveal broken, undesirable backlinks that require attention to help get your SEO back on track.

In this day and age of SEO, it's important to make sure that the party you hire to provide SEO is well versed in HTML, CSS and Javacsript as opposed to one who prefers to rely on Wordpress (WP) or a similar content management system (CMS) alone to address and correct website technical issues known to hurt SEO. In reality, the SEO expert/specialist who prefers using a CMS normally has little to no experience in hard coding websites that serves to explain their seemingly reluctance or unwillingness in using HTML, CSS, and JS to address website technical performance issues. While a plug-in may at first appear to be a reliable and convenient cost-effective measure for those using a CMS, in reality, the use of plug-ins has proven otherwise for addressing website technical performance issues. All considered, proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JS has proven to be most reliable to date for addressing technical website issues without repercussions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • In short, white-hat seo refers to the correct and ethical way to optimize a website by conforming to several criteria that consists of 1) following search engine guidelines, 2) focusing on a human audience, and 3) taking a long term approach for increasing website performance and rankings in the SERPs. In contrast, black-hat seo refers to unethical strategies designed to game the search engines for increasing website performance and rankings in the SERPs. In so doing, black-hat tactics focus primarily on search engines as opposed to audiences. Needless to say, black-hat seo is deemed unacceptable and in most cases will end up getting your website banned from the SERPs by Google.

  • If and when possible, planning an SEO campaign should begin during the early stages of website design/development to jump start website performance and rankings in the SERPs (search engine result pages) once a website is up and running. With this in mind, unless one and the same party happens to be responsible for website design, development, copy, and SEO, the best SEO is often achieved when website developers, copywriters, and those that manage SEO work together from the get-go. For example, initiating an SEO campaign after the site has been launched will often force the copywriter to modify content to improve the quality thereof resulting in twice the amount of work to be done.

  • Regardless of what you believe or have been told, there is no magic bullet or guarantee to achieve a first page organic listing in the SERPs. While I am sure many would have you believe otherwise, those who preach this nonsense more often than not use/rely on unacceptable black-hat SEO strategies intended to game the search engines, paid per click (PPC) ad campaigns, or low competition keywords no one is using in searching for the product or service you provide in hope of catapulting your website to the first page of the SERPs. What they normally fail to tell you is that it's only a matter of time b4 your website either gets banned (by Google) and disappears from the SERPs or you come to realize you will be paying forever to remain on the first page of the SERPs once there. Moreover, the majority of website owners are completely unaware that paid ad campaigns garner a much lower percentage of clicks than organic search results.

  • In short, without conducting a thorough technical SEO site audit, it’s difficult if not impossible to know if there exist technical issues having an adverse effect on a website's performance and rankings in the SERPs (search engine result pages) and possibly undesirable effects on the user experience (UX). On the other hand, websites that are properly designed, developed, free of duplicate content and technical errors will often help boost performance and rankings in the search engines in addition to improving the UX. This noted, the choice is ultimately yours.

  • If at all possible, a technical SEO (search engine optimization) website audit should be undertaken before implementing an SEO campaign or strategy as this can serve to save a lot of time and unnecessary aggravation in disclosing existing website technical issues in need of attention to reap the full benefit of an SEO campaign/strategy to follow. Thereafter, a technical site audit should be conducted bi-annually and anytime before implementing a new SEO campaign or when looking to provide major SEO modifications to an existing one.

  • In short 'No'. However, we can include this service for an additional fee yet to be provided once your technical site audit has been completed.

  • Depending on the size and complexity of the website under consideration, what's often referred to as an abbreviated technical SEO site audit can take anywhere from one to three or more hours to complete. In contrast, a comprehensive detailed website analysis including technical and non-technical on/off-page SEO (search engine optimization) can take seven to thirty days or more. Also, as already stated in answering the previous question, regardless of the type of SEO site audit/analysis to be provided, the process of addressing/correcting technical issues as may be revealed during an abbreviated or full blown website audit/analysis is seldom included as this is contingent on information yet to be revealed in a site audit/analysis yet to be provided.

  • If your non-technical SEO happens to be point on but your SEO campaign appears to be sluggish getting nowhere fast, your website may be experiencing technical issues hindering a search engine's ability to crawl and index a website in which event a technical site audit is recommended b4 initializing or continuing with your SEO campaign.

    • Whatever you do, don't make a habit of relying solely on keywords you believe to be used most often by those searching for a product or service you provide. In reality, many continue to make this mistake when beginning keyword research only to find out later on that the keywords they're trying to rank for happen to be altogether different from what most individuals use to search for their products or services. In reality, you would be much better off spending time researching keywords most often used by those looking to purchase the products or services you provide.
    • Focus on long tail—as opposed to one or two word—keywords since they are normally less competitive and more often than not used by those ready to commit versus those still shopping for a product or service.
    • According to Google, 'Quality Content is King'. Don't spam content with keywords.
    • Consider using synonyms instead of adding one or more of the same keywords to your content to prevent keyword stuffing that reads unnaturally resulting in nothing to be gained in SEO much less contribute to UX (user experience).
  • While Google has stated time and again that 'Quality Content is King', this in itself can also help build and attract quality back-links at the same time.

  • Before beginning a new or revamping an existing SEO campaign strategy, the most important consideration is that the individual or party providing SEO services learn as much as they can about the business for which the website is intended including the product or service to be provided, short and long term goals of the business, along with a realistic assessment of expectations, etc. In reality, the TV show 'Undercover Boss' provides an excellent example where 9 times out of 10 the CEO or business owner's perception is completely out of touch with the business they're trying to better manage or rescue whereby their attempt to improve existing working conditions often fail simply because they have never learned much less have they experienced the inner workings of the company to begin with which explains why they eventually elect to go undercover. Similar to the 'Undercover Boss' example, for an SEO campaign strategy to be effective, it must first and foremost be based on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the business or individual for whom the website is intended.

  • Unfortunately, there's no magic bullet or one size fits all solution to drive traffic to your website. That said, your focus should be on writing quality content to attract and convince first-time customers you provide a much better product or service than what your competition has to offer. For example, it may be to your advantage to promote an inexpensive or free perk—in addition to the service you provide—deemed beneficial to your customers in your line of work. Case in point, you run an auto repair shop and offer customers a loaner car at no cost other than gas as long as they can present proof of insurance. That way, you ensure your customers still have transportation while their vehicle is getting serviced. For most, this denotes a convenient and rare money-saving opportunity that may well be a deciding factor in their choosing your auto repair shop over that of the competition.
